Announcement | HyBuild™ North America
HyDeal North America is now HyBuild™ North America

HyDeal is a Proven Concept
Green Hydrogen Coalition’s (GHC) hub development initiative was inspired by and modeled after HyDeal Ambition, an industry platform launched in 2020 in Europe that brings together 30 companies covering the complete green hydrogen value chain, from upstream to downstream. Now, both platforms are entering their next phases of growth. In January 2022, HyDeal Ambition announced plans to develop HyDeal España, Europe’s largest clean hydrogen hub. HyDeal España will manage the development, funding, and construction of green hydrogen (GH2) production and transmission infrastructure to produce green steel, ammonia, fertilizer, and other industrial and energy products. Additionally, the hub has major industrial sponsors including ArcelorMittal, Enagás, Grupo Fertiberia, and DH2 Energy signed on ahead of the project to go live in 2025.
In parallel, GHC has embarked on a new, advanced scope of work for its Los Angeles-focused hub development efforts, leveraging the considerable progress the team has made to-date with an emphasis on equity, pollution reduction, job creation, and economic development. The GHC team now is expanding its research to identify and update total GH2 offtake and infrastructure needs, including offtake for mobility applications such as heavy trucks, drayage trucks, forklifts, coaches, port material handling equipment, maritime, and aviation. This workstream will also explore ammonia production and use, water availability, and consumption needs for the proposed Los Angeles hub. Policy and regulatory recommendations will follow as this scope of work is completed later this year.
Introducing HyBuild™
The value proposition for GH2 has never been stronger. Market and policy interest in GH2 continues to grow, especially with the $9.5 billion in federal incentives under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and the hydrogen production tax credit/investment tax credit in the Inflation Reduction Act, which will now rapidly advance clean hydrogen deployment.
The platform’s new name, HyBuild™, recognizes that North America’s GH2 vision is rapidly taking shape and project development work is now underway. GHC and its supporters are strongly encouraged by the rapid advancement of their efforts to build top-down momentum for scalable GH2 projects that accelerate multi-sectoral decarbonization to combat climate change, spur economic development, and deliver a clean, just energy transition for all. Furthermore, GHC expects to make new announcements in the coming weeks to demonstrate additional progress, building new pathways to realize the powerful, multi-sectoral benefits of this game changer as well as transforming how we power our world and creating vibrant, sustainable, and durable clean energy economies.
