Report | HyBuild™ Carolinas

From expertise in power generation to the manufacturing of electrolysis equipment, vehicles, and airplanes, the Carolinas have a rich industrial sector that can play a key role in accelerating the broader U.S. green hydrogen economy. HyBuild™ Carolinas is an initiative aimed at the widespread adoption of mass-scale, affordable green hydrogen in North and South Carolina. Operating under the HyBuild™ North America platform, this endeavor seeks to drive multi-sectoral decarbonization and foster local economic development in the Carolinas.

HyBuild™ Carolinas conducted an assessment that evaluated the region's potential demand for green hydrogen, examined various production pathways, and measured the required infrastructure for green hydrogen delivery. The effort also involved rigorous technical analysis and extensive stakeholder engagement to facilitate alignment and pinpoint key areas for action.

Furthermore, the assessment developed and modeled pathways for achieving near-term, mid-term, and long-term progress in green electrolytic hydrogen production and utilization across the Carolinas as well as identified potential demand in the Charlotte, Charleston, Clemson, and Wilmington regions.

Four key findings to uncover the pathways to a green hydrogen economy by 2030 and 2040 are included in this assessment.
